Vince Guaraldi, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, J.S. Bach, Frank Zappa

a CD recording of selected performances from the 1999-2000 season will

- A typical semester usually brings a host of
guest composers, performers, and lecturers to the RU Music Department.
In fall of 1998, the department had the distinct honor of welcoming guest
composers Donald Erb (December 1st) and Rodney Waschka (November 15) to
the university. In the fall of 1999, the department hosted a guest recital
by Dr. Harry Bulow and Dr. Mark Applebaum (see above link for details
and program), and our most recent visit consisted of a two-week residency
in the Spring of 2000 by Russian composer and guitarist Nikita Koshkin.
In addition to their guest performances, each guest presents lectures
and master classes that are open to all those who wish to attend. In addition,
guest composers and performers often conduct private lessons with interested
students during their time here. These opportunities offer the students
a chance to gain some unique insight into their art from learned, experienced
individuals who are in the real world dedicating their lives to music.
Other past guests have included Max Matthews, Michael Kallstrom, John
Cage, and Jeffrey Krieger.
