Radford University offers a MUSIC AND TECHNOLOGY emphasis in its Bachelor of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Science in Music degrees. Students develop skills which take advantage of technological solutions applied to a wide variety of musical processes. Courses emphasize the use of technology in music composition, performance, recording production, software application development and research. The curriculum includes courses in digital music composition, performance with digital musical instruments, audio recording and mixing, software applications and software development.

Simultaneously, students develop overall musicianship in areas of performance, music theory and history. An important feature of the degree is the flexibility allowed through the pursuit of independent projects in the Computer Music Forum and in the completion of the final project. In this way, the student can emphasize specific areas of music technology which fit the student's interest, talents, and career goals.

Our unique relationship with the University of Glasgow in Scotland means that students in our program have the opportunity to spend a semester taking classes at the University of Glasgow Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering working with students enrolled in the Degree in Electronics with Music. This usually takes place in the junior year.

Collaborations developed during this experience often result in contacts which lead to important professional opportunities after graduation.

Graduates have found jobs  jobs at the Johns Hopkins University, Davidson College, Pepperdine University, VH1, at Theodore Presser Music Publishing, and as multi-media content providers for the federal government, to name a few.
