A native of Minnesota, Coreen earned an undergraduate degree at Minnesota State University Mankato and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in mathematics . After teaching at Virginia Tech for 5 years, she was at Radford University from 1978 to 2003.  For 3 years after retirement she maintained a research faculty appointment at Radford in order to continue projects involving WeBWorK.  Coreen is now fully retired, devoting time to travel, gardening, and volunteer work.
