Carl has been the Scenic and Lighting designer for the department since 1979. Professionally, Carl is actively involved in the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and the Southeastern Theatre Conference. For the USITT Southeast Section he has held the offices of Treasurer, Vice-Chair and Chair. He is currently the Immediate Past President of USITT. At the 2009 Cincinnati Conference and Stage Expo Carl was named a Fellow of the Institute recognizing his outstanding contribution to the theatre and service to the Institute.
