Fuhrer presents work on new computational chemistry course

Tim Fuhrer recently presented his work on the development of a new course in computational chemistry for our majors at the 60th Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS) in Nashville, Tennessee. His talk, "Toward a Course in Molecular Modeling for Upper Division Chemistry Majors", summarized his efforts to include a computational chemistry component in our Integrated Laboratory course.

"We have developed a short course in computational molecular modeling for upper division undergraduate Chemistry majors. Our hope is to continue to grow this course into a full semester, upper division, undergraduate elective. The goal of the course is to introduce undergraduate Chemistry majors to computational quantum mechanical methods used in molecular modeling research."
