ESHE 358 Projects Overview and Points

Upon completion of course students shall be computer and technology literate.

Thus; students shall demonstrate an understanding of systems, their uses, basic knowledge and related skills.  To accomplish this; students will attend lecture and lab classes, submit projects to accumulate points (100) and/or a selected combination of the two.  Students have the opportunity to elect how they will complete the class requirements.

Please note:  The tendency for many students enrolled in this class is to try to do the projects that are the quick and easy path to earn a grade of A.  It is important to note that the design of the course is to enable those enrolled to assess their current abilities, estimate what they could need based on their intended career path and learn those skills which will be needed.  Students who might not be sure of their future needs, should schedule an appointment with the instructor to discuss and develop a personal learning plan.

Options:

·         Attend the lectures and labs; each of which will have a point value.  The class is based on 100 points and the grading scale is the standard 90=A, 80=B, etc.

·         Submit projects; each of which will have a point value.  Again, the 100 points and grading scale.

·         Combine attending classes and submitting projects to the total point’s goal.

Submission limitation:

·         All projects must be submitted via WebCT mail

·         Regular RU e-mail is used for all conventional correspondence with the instructor.

·         Projects are to be submitted weekly and are NOT to be left until the end of the semester. (This is a practical problem of grading-- since there can be over 600 projects to evaluate for the 40+ students enrolled.)

·         Items and/or projects not includes may be requested for credit.  However, this must be done in advance of submission and the specifics are be agreed upon by both the instructor and the student
