Knocknarea Mountain
Knocknarea Mountain is another area of interest in Yeat's beloved Sligo. Atop this mountain lies the supposed resting place of Queen Maeve.
Cuchulainn was the most famous warrior in Irish mythology. One of his most famous battles involves Queen Maeve. Queen Maeve sent her troops to capture his prize bull, but he heard of her plot and defeated them single-handedly. Queen Maeve was outraged and took her revenge by using sorcerers to lure him to his death.
Queen Maeve and Knocknarea Mountain are mentioned in several of Yeats' poems and are of keen interest in Irish myth.
