In a game between the Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sept. 3, Bonds called his shot and knew he was going to hit homerun number 697. After the game, Bonds said, "It was a hot day in San Francisco. And that ball carries very well when it gets super hot at night in SBC Park. So I knew that if I could just touch it, I would hit it out." Bonds hit his 699th homerun this past Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This was his 41st of the season and only the second hešs hit total during the Giants eight-game road trip which continues in Milwaukee, when the Giants take on the Brewers. Milwaukee could very well be the place where Bonds does his damage and hits number 700. Bonds is very optimistic about reaching 700 and continuing his climb to the top. "It feels good that so many people are focused on my home run chase, and I'd like to get to 700 as soon as I can - but the real deal is making it back to the postseason," said Bonds. This is true, because the Giants are in tough competition with the Chicago Cubs for the National League Wild Card spot. As of now, both teams are neck and neck. However with a limited number of games left and a few other teams seeking that same spot, anything could happen. Keep an eye on Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants as they finish out their season. This could be a season ending in memorable events, both for Bonds and the Giants. Barry Bonds has a chance to achieve homerun greatness, and the Giants have a chance in the playoffs. |
