Cauterize: So Far From Real

I purchased this CD a year ago, listened, didn't get a feel for it and tossed it in the junk pile of CDs. About a month ago, I decided to take it with me in the car and give it a new try. Wow, what an amazing mix that it had.

Cauterize - a group from the Windup record label hasn't really seen much popularity. At first glance, they look like your average punky emo band, and, at first sound, you think the same thing. That's why when I first listened to it, it didn't have much of a catch to me.

I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The songs are more powerful than I could have ever realized. While they sound scratchy at some points, I notice a lot of growth in their album from song 1 to song 11.

Cauterize is probably the average emo band. But with their screaming vocals, great riffs and amazing lyrics, it's no wonder that many people I know have become hooked on it. Their CD has been out for a while and their popularity hasn't really peaked, but I encourage you to give them a spin for yourself more than once and then decide what you think of them.
