For those of you just reading for fill, the Avengers are from Marvel Comics. They come from the same line as Spiderman and X-men. Some core members include Captain America, Thor: God of Thunder, the Incredible Hulk and the Invincible Iron Man. They are Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and they stand for everything good in the world. Unfortunately for them, that's all been changed. Flashback to issue 500 of "Avengers": Jack of Hearts (an Avenger thought to be dead) walked up to Avenger's Mansion and exploded, re-killing himself and Ant-Man. The explosion injured many, destroyed part of the mansion and left the Avengers shaken. Help arrives from Captain America and other Avengers. However, the Vision (an android) crashes into the remaining part of the mansion and unleashes even more chaos. Members are injured; members are killed; a team is in trouble. In issue 501 of "Avengers," even more happens. The team is shattered with all the mishaps and casualties. Then, of course, in #502, the Kree attack killing a major Avenger. This brings our kill count to many - Ant-Man, Jack of Hearts, Hawyeye. Many others are injured, incarcerated or MIA. Needless to say, the Avengers have suffered tremendously. Where does that leave us now? With #503 on the way, it's very interesting to see what will happen to the rest of the Avengers. Will the team disband, or will they be disassembled for good? One thing is for sure, it's been an interesting amount of events leading up to this point. Keep yourself posted by checking out #503. |
