Main Street Radford is known for its little shops, bars and restaurants. Many shops have come and gone; some stay for years. Making its first appearance on Main Street is Screamers, a bar/restaurant with pool tables, seven TV's, a touch screen jukebox and cheap prices. With the walls painted red and sports players cards built into the top of the bar, Screamers has created an atmosphere different from other bars. When walking in, it is obvious that Screamers is going to be something that Radford has never seen before. Located next to Subway, Screamers is hoping to break the cycle of shops and restaurants that have been coming and going in that building over the past few years. Previously occupied by Pastiche, Skinners, and East Coast, Screamers' owners Ron Frank Jr. and Brandi Frank are trying to make this the one that stands out and sticks around. With the support of Main Street and the town of Radford, Screamers has hopes of becoming a necessity for our town. Coming into the scene of the well known BT's and Riley's, Screamers is a restaurant during the day, but come 9 PM, Screamers is only for those who are 21 and older. Hoping to serve alcohol in the near future, Screamers will begin enforcing their age limit. Screamers is planning to hold a grand opening when they first serve alcohol with the possibilities of a few surprises along the way. Compared to Joe's Diner, Screamer's serves a menu of 100% Angus beef burgers, pizza, sandwiches and more. The first weekend did quite well despite the lack of alcohol. Screamers is open from 11am-2am daily. |
