"Van Wilder": The Party Liason

Van Wilder is one of the best movies out for comedy this millennium. It has completely revamped how I perceive humor. I felt a sense of connectivity with the characters and the situations. It's not your average comedy; it's in a league of its own.

Many movies nowadays try to lure the audience with the most interesting moments or snippets. Many times I found myself bursting out with laughter, since there are so many ideas in the movie that make me go into a laughing frenzy.

The movie uses many types of humor. Here the movie introduces K9 semen. Van Wilder, the main character, and his cohorts devise a brilliant plan, to get back at the not-so-friendly Pre-Med-Dik's by generously supplying them with ample amounts of croissants full of warm gooey K9 cream. I loved how the humor in the movie has been precisely plotted to bloom out at certain important times, which I call "Kodak Moments."

The non-stop humor lifted me out of my chair. As the movie progresses, it brings continuous laughter. I love how Van finds awkward ways to perceive everything. He even believes that his interview for the school newspaper is a date. I find that the tone within the humor helps accents it, making it more creative and original. The movie portrays real life scenarios, that when twisted correctly makes it that much more hilarious.

"Van Wilder" is not only a comedic movie, but it also incorporates drama as well. To achieve perfection, a movie must touch base on everything that may draw the attentions of others. An example of this seriousness is when Van along with his father and Gwen sit down to have a talk about their relationship, the future and the fate of them as a couple. I transitioned from almost crying from laughing to crying because of the seriousness of the subject.

Whether you are looking for humor or seriousness, "Van Wilder" has it. There are many comedic movies which use plots and ideas that are so artificial it is hard for me to relate to them. Many movies make me laugh, but they don't seem to relate to my mind or my feelings. This movie definitely did. If you have time this break, you should definitely rent "Van Wilder."

Van Wilder was just nasty. Tasteless. A sad rip-off of American Pie.
