Welcome
Well here we are again, another week and and another newsletter in your mailbox. Here at Radford University we have made it through the first half of the fall semester and are now entering the realm commonly known as Fall Break.
I hope you all have a happy and healthy Fall Break, so you can come back full of energy. Next week will be a great week for Radford students, not only will they only have three days of classes, but on Friday, Whim will be publishing the annual Halloween Edition!
A special congratulations goes out to Andrew Kinback for being voted the Staffer of the Week! I'm looking forward to more of your hard work and enthusiasm!
I have nothing left to say for now, but you certainly have a lot more to read, so please continue your journey into the deep and dark places of a land called Whim!

Comic Review: "The Sandman"
by Berkley Pritchett | Staff Writer
The 11th volume of the comic book series "TheSandman: Endless Nights" debuted on the "New York Times Best Sellers List" at number 20, which reaffirmed its popularity seven years after its initial publication. This Fall Break is the perfect time to explain why the series is one of the best in the medium.
Rush Limbaugh: Right or Racist?
by Andrew Lent | Vent Manager
Two weeks ago, Rush Limbaugh, who was a commentator on ESPN's
Sunday Night Countdown, expressed his opinion of Donovan McNabb on the
show. He stated that he believed the media overrated the quarterback,
because the media was "desirous of a black quarterback doing well."
While these statements were controversial, I will contend to make the
argument that Limbaugh's comments were not racist; although he most likely should have been more cautious on voicing such an opinion.
Fat Police
by Dr. Justin Askins | Contributing Writer
I'm looking for a job. æDon't get me wrong, I already have a very decent position teaching English at Radford University. æBut I think I could do better. æI teach maybe one hundred and twenty students a semester, and of those I probably influence a handful to give serious literature a chance. æNot much of a return for a committed idealist. æSo I'm looking elsewhere and a position I see coming up might just be perfect.
