Power vs. Wisdom

Now that the Iraqi war has begun, when will America decide it is time to use its wisdom to lead the world further instead of its power? America is the world's sole superpower and our military is the best that the world has ever seen. However, sometimes America lacks a certain wisdom in its political leaders that is a necessity in order to maintain a just state.

Human Shields: Unlikely Targets

Something caught my eye when I was looking through the papers the other day. Something that has to do with the war in Iraq but comes from a totally different perspective. What I am referring to are human shields: men and women from countries such as the United States and Britain who willfully come to Iraq to shield Iraqi soldiers and civilians from U.S.-led bombs and missiles. What would make someone think of doing this? And for Saddam Hussein and Iraq, no less? Let's try to find out....

I harbor three different sets of beliefs. The Christian belief that it is wrong to fight and horrible to kill another human being, the realist belief that it is necessary for people to exert aggression, including violence, in order to survive, and the common sense part of me that would rather shoot itself than listen to the banter of uninformed people arguing over things they know nothing about, other than what they are told they should think.
