The assassination of Saddam Hussein by one of his
own body guards puts the Middle East in turmoil. Iran is poised to invade in
the ensuing chaos, while preparing to release the Ebola virus into the US.
The United States ignores the UN Security Council and, citing terrorism
concerns, invades Iraq. Two British helicopters collide in mid-air, and
Baghdad is bombed to hell. Texas is declared messed with.
Meanwhile, in the USSR, a Muslim fundamentalist group blows up an oil
refinery, forcing the Soviets to attack the United States, the leading
exporter of oil in the world, in order to replenish their supplies. To kick
off the Soviet attack, the Russians launch their newest stealth submarine,
the Red October.
Coalition forces are advancing into Iraq, and more and more countries are
pledging their support, which they had only days before denied.
In England, American Jack Ryan makes friends in London when he
single-handedly thwarts an IRA assassination attempt on the Prince of Wales.
In retaliation, the IRA seeks out Ryan and his family. Following the nearly
complete decapitation of the American government at the end of a war with
Japan, Ryan is sworn in as president only minutes after he is confirmed for
VP.
24-hour news networks like CNN have multiple collective orgasms during the
latest Iraqi conflict. The war is so well-covered, Americans can now watch
violence and death live from the other side of the world. It's the ultimate
reality show.
Elsewhere, John Clark, an ex-Navy SEAL, is tracking down drug dealers in
Vietnam as a soldier for hire. He is then recruited by the CIA and teamed up
with Domingo Chavez to fight the drug lords in Colombia. Oh yeah, and Korea
is reunified under democratic rule.
Then all of a sudden, the Berlin Wall falls. A small nuclear bomb is
exploded at the Super Bowl, and American and Russian troops are tricked into
firing on each other.
President Ryan's suspicions are proven when China, seeing Russia's
military weakness, strikes at the Russo-Chinese border. John Clark and his
Rainbow counter-terrorism team are called in to deal a blow against the
commies.
France surrenders.
Tom Clancy takes it to the next level in his latest thriller. "The Sum of
All Clear and Present Patriot Games" is the pinnacle of Clancy's career.
With a plot this super-charged, it's sure to blow every circuit in the
world!
