The Whim Tech Section is your home for all things that
use energy in their activities, or in their production. The Tech Section
covers the obvious avenues of computers, electronic games, and the internet.
Also covered in the Tech Section are all the physical sciences: biology,

Palm Computing recently released its latest volley
in the hotly-contested "Handheld Computer War." The Tech Section Chief Geek,
Kevin Martin, was so excited about this device that he went out and bought his
own. Kevin gives us a thorough overview of the device, its features, and what
you should expect from this shiny new gizmo. Though not for the faint of
heart, this thorough review covers all the essential information on the
Tungsten.

Palm m505
Chris Brown | Staff Writer
The Palm m505 was Palm's first foot out into the
color handheld market. At the time, the only other option was the Vizor Prizm.
It offered all the features of the previous models plus support for Secure
Disk Cards (sort-of like Flash only more secure), which allowed it to have
removable media; and because all software is in the format of one file, it
allows you to expand your Palm infinitely.

Palm m130 adds Color to m1XX Series Handheld
Nick Pietron | Vent Section Manager
It began with a very simple handheld, the Palm m100. It
was the perfect beginnerās machine: affordably priced and easy to use with
just the right number of features for a college student. As time went on, its
features kept getting better, but the price never got much higher. Now, the
Palm m130 handheld features everything the pro's have at a fraction of the
cost.

Newton PDA of the Past and Present
Brice Hutchings | Staff Writer
The Newton is the grandfather of the PDA's and is
still a cheap, viable platform. But be warned: this PDA has a different way of doing
things. Ever since it was discontinued by Apple, die-hard users have started
family-style tech support and software development groups (not to mention that
the hardware is still on par with today's PDA's). These time-tested hand-
helds are among the cheapest of the bunch as well.

It was not until 1990 that the internet became public to all. Since then the World Wide Web has caused an evolution.
