Shopping on the web can be tricky for some. You don't
get to see the actual item. You don't know who you can trust. You have no clue
if
anyone can get your credit card information. Well, I'm here to clarify all of
this for you and make you less antsy about doing some e-shopping. Really, all you have to know are some basic idiocy-preventing moves and you
too can safely shop the web. Here are some:
- Secure server. One of the most important things in
shopping on the web is making sure your card information is safe. The easiest
way to keep it that way is to make sure you're on a secure server. Usually
the URL on a secure server is led by https. Making sure those five
letters are there is the best way to secure your info.
- Check the history of a company. Not sure about a
company? Do a search on it. Don't just trust the feedback on the site. It will
be positive regardless. See if the site is registered with the Better Business
Bureau. This will reduce your chances of getting ripped-off.
- Don't be an idiot. If it sounds too good to be true it
probably is. Make sure you don't get too caught up in the hype. There is no
way
a watch can revolutionize the way you make eggs or that a soda can prevent
acne. Over-the-top claims should be a warning sign. Don't say I didn't warn
you.
Hopefully these tips will help you feel better about shopping the wonderful
world
wide web.
