![]() Graphic By: Jonelle Thackston Released in 1993 with little fanfare, "Myst" has become one of the best-selling games of all time. Consistently ranking in the top ten of units sold since 1994, it has sold over 5 million units. Pretty good for a game that was virtually unknown when it was released. The game begins with your first person perspective of being on an island. There are no instructions. You are there. This game forces you to explore, to immerse yourself in this world. Time disappears as you explore this rich backdrop. You piece together clues and solve puzzles to move through the game as your objective slowly unfolds before you. The game takes you in and makes you part of it. What is truly amazing about this game is the quality of graphics. For its time it was simply amazing. To get that many levels and that much detail onto a single disk was unthinkable. Even its sequel, "Riven," a five-disk game, couldn't do that. "Myst" is, and always will be, one of the best games created. Responses: Refresh frame to view latest entries.
