Quick, name five e-tailers off the top of your head. Now go back, and look at your list. I幢l bet you listed Amazon.com first, or at least at the top, and there廣 good reason why. Amazon.com is the foremost e-tailer on the market today and has set the standard for which all others aspire.

What about Amazon gives it its staying power? Selection, for one. Imagine a bookstore that carries EVERY book in print. Let me repeat that: EVERY book in print. For a bibliophile like myself, I get all giddy just thinking about that.

So you don廠 like books, eh? Then how about their infinite selection of CDs, DVDs, videos and computer software? No? Well, what about all the neat electronic gadgets they sell like digital cameras, computers, PDAs and video game systems? Or the home and garden supplies and the clothing? Don廠 you see? There廣 something for everyone.

Amazon doesn廠 just stop there. You can bid in online auctions, purchase used books from independent booksellers, access movie showtimes and restaurant menus, purchase gift certificates, and even shop for cars online. Amazon also features a partner system in which specialized websites can link to Amazon and if someone purchases a product through the website, then Amazon will give a commission to that website.

Of course, the biggest selection in the world doesn廠 mean squat if you don廠 have good service to back it up, and Amazon excels in this area. Your order ships quickly and if you order a certain amount, then your shipping is free. Plus, Amazon廣 recommendation system, which recommends items based on your purchase history, is a great way to discover new authors or products.

So there you have it. This review simply can廠 do justice to Amazon.com, but I think I影e done a good job in giving a brief overview. And hopefully you can see why they are the premiere e-tailer.
