For ten years, Mystery Science Theater 3000 poked fun at an endless amount of B (and C, D, E and Z) grade films. Each week, viewers would tune in to see what horrible celluloid abomination Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank were going to subject Joel Robinson (and later Mike Nelson) and his robotic pals, Crow and Tom Servo, to. Now, Rhino Home Video has collected four of the series' finest episodes and released them in a DVD boxed set.

This is Volume two of the series, and contains three movies: "Pod People," "Cave Dwellers," (from the Joel era) and "Angel's Revenge" (from Mike's tenure); plus a collection of short films the gang has heckled over the years. Out of the four, "Pod People" is my personal favorite, although all four of them are excellent. Of the shorts, be sure to check out "A Date with Your Family" and "Why Study Industrial Arts?"

Rhino has done a great job with this set. The picture and sound quality are amazing and the episode choices are excellent, too. When Rhino releases episodes individually they also put the original film on the disc, but they didn't in the case of the box sets, and this would be my only complaint regarding them. Yet, these films are pretty bad by themselves, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

If you're looking for an inexpensive introduction to this highly original series, then look no further than Mystery Science Theater 3000, Volume Two. I have a feeling you won't be disappointed.
