If you have never heard of this kid, then perhaps it's about time you get off of your kiester and have a listen to this smooth-singing acoustic guru from Mechanicsville, Virginia. Jason Mraz is his name and jamming on the guitar is his game.
Jason Mraz has just recently released his solo debut album called "Waiting For My Rocket To Come." While I never really expected him to go commercial so soon, I enjoyed the album.
Every song on the album is worth listening to. "You and I Both" and "Remedy (I Won't Worry)" are both awesome tracks while "Curbside Prophet" is absolutely, positively the best song he has out right now.
I will have to say that I enjoy the live versions of his songs a lot better than the recorded. If you find yourself interested in Mraz (who is comparable to John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Rhett Miller...to say a few), please do not hesitate to check out his site at jasonmraz.com for a ton of goodies.
As I said before, it was different listening to the studio versions of his songs after blasting his uncut versions that he recorded at Java Joe's, a San Diego coffee joint. Try listening to the album first, then go to the good live stuff afterwards. This will eliminate the bitter taste that I have in my mouth right now.
Mraz is a talented fellow! I would love to see him live. Check out this Virginia native, as you shall not be let down.
