Let's face it. The weather lately has been horrible. Snow every week. Ice on the roads and class delays. It's just not always safe out there. You need to be prepared for the weather conditions. Well we have a list to keep you prepared for snowy weather.

  • Bottled water. You need lots of fresh bottled water during storms. Even if you don't lose power it's possible for water mains to break and the water to become inportable.
  • Candles and matches. If you are in the dorms this is a no- no. But if you are off campus you need to have these handy in case of power loss. It's much easier than bumping into furniture and going to bed at 7 p.m.
  • Flashlight and fresh batteries. This is a must if you can't or don't have candles. They also work better outside.
  • Canned foods. Preferrably these will be foods that don't need heating. Canned foods don't spoil and many are pre-cooked. Be sure you have a manual can opener as well.
  • Blankets. Be certain to have plenty of blankets. If you lose power you'll need them to keep warm. Even if you don't, you can just use extra blankets at night so you can keep your heat turned back.
  • Emergency Roadside Kit. Have an emergency roadside kit handy. It'll make any trip you have to take easier.

These are just a few of the things you can do to be better prepared for a storm. If you have any further ideas, please post them in the feed back section at the bottom. Keep warm.
