Whim's April Fool's Edition
Radford University officials unveiled a new plan Monday
to promote financial equality and equal opportunity among University students.
The plan was designed to instill work ethics among all students as well as
provide an opportunity for students to live financially secure while attending
college, place academic success as a top priority, and be able to participate
in student organizations. The effort is due to University officials
acknowledging while that some students are able to attend school with full
focus while others have to support themselves and balance school,
extracurricular activities, and jobs.
The plan will raise tuition by $3,000 to $5,000 each semester, however
additional financial needs will be met for low income students. This money
will
be used to provide low-income students with meal plans. All students will also
be required to maintain university jobs and work approximately 20 hours each
week. Officials believe that this plan will help to build work ethics among
students and better prepare students for work environments they may meet upon
graduation. Requiring students to work university jobs will also lower the
need
to hire outside employees, thus saving the university money. The university
then hopes to build housing for all students at no additional cost.
In effect, the new plan is designed to provide all students with equal
housing,
daily meals and work opportunities while also providing all students equal
access to campus activities and events. University officials will make their
final approval and any adjustments next Tuesday.
