I Write and Get Mad About Things:
Who Am I, And Why Am I Here?

  Josh Nibert | Staff Writer

I've devoted more of my life to the expression of anger than I could ever tell. I suppose that's the easiest way to introduce myself. I'm Yeti; I write and get mad about things.

When Jeff Davis first asked me to write for Vent, I was a student at Virginia Tech. The thought of transferring to RU had never even crossed my mind. However, it didn't take long for my love affair with VT to wear quite thin. After two years I had grown weary of the collegiate world-- I no longer looked forward to being taught in an auditorium with 600 other students, and a malfunctioning microphone would lead to frustration and bad notes, assuming I went to class in the first place.

Going to class at VT was an adventure in and of itself. It was a given that your classroom would be a long walk from your dorm, but if you were one of the truly unlucky, the walk could easily exceed the one mile mark. Add to this, blazing hot end-of-summer days, as well as rain, snow, and sleet throughout the winter and spring months, and each individual had more than enough reason to stay inside. I found myself falling into this trap.

I hated living there. The dorm rooms were like prison cells, the sinks got dirty, and the kids in the hall had the personality of flat Dr. Pepper. The size of the rooms, the color of the walls, the depressing overhead lighting; it all added up to a miserable life. As the spring semester drug itself out I knew my time at VT needed to be truncated as soon as possible.

So, I did the only thing I knew to do. Packed up, signed some papers, and moved to RU. Now I'm here, working with Jeff and the rest of Whim, and hating things as much as I ever have.

One more thing before I go. Here is a short collection of things that I don't like and will certainly discuss in detail throughout my time with Whim:

Sandals anywhere but at the beach and in the shower, people who wear sweatpants in public and proceed to keep both hands buried inside the waistband, Truth commercials, Nike, people who honestly prefer Pepsi, P'Zones, Avril Lavigne, spiders, computers, people who like bad music and don't know it, people who like bad music and do know it, and probably you too.
