This Is Just A Tribute
Steve Glassbrenner | Toon Section Manager
It seems like only a few weeks ago we started season 12 for this magazine. And all to soon we've hit the end of a very hectic semester. With the passing of the semester comes a few events I'd rather not have happen. Whim is saying goodbye to a long time staffer and one of my best friends, Jeff Davis, who graduates in December.
I first met Jeff through Poetry Slam in my hometown of Roanoke. His poetry impressed me to great lengths and continues to do so to this day. Jeff works hard, has incredible amounts of discipline and is the very image of a self-made man. I honestly don't know anybody who has met Jeff that doesn't think that he will go on to do wonderful things if he wishes.
Jeff is passionate about quite a number of things, including great tasting brew and some of the best music on the planet. Needless to say, this love of poetry, U2, New Castle, Guiness and our quite similar senses of humor have lead to us bonding over the few years that we've known each other.
When I came to Radford University, I didn't know anybody. Jeff took me in and introduced me to the main staple of people that I spend my free time with. He got me involved in Whim, Exit 109, and suggested I check out Roc-Tv. I don't think I'd have had as much fun as I've had here at Radford without Jeff. He is one hell of a guy and one of my best friends. When I've needed him, he has been there for me without question. To me that is more valuable than a keg of New Castle, or even a good guitar.
Without a doubt, we will still be incredibly good friends years and years from now. Jeff, you are a brother to me, and you will truly be missed. Take your incredible potential and do yourself proud.
