Matt's Top Ten
Matt Witherow | Graphics Team
Welcome to the 2002-2003 football season. Whim
sports has compiled a group of our own columnists to pick the top 10 NFL
Teams and College Football teams every week.
TOP NFL TEAMS
Week 3
1. New England Patriots - The Jets were like a bug to the windshield, KC
might be more like a bird to the windshield. Pats will be there in the
end.
2. Oakland Raiders - So solid.
3. Denver Broncos - They are right where they want to be for now. Lets see how they do in October against SD, Miami, KC and New England.
4. Carolina Panthers - Complete 180 turn, new team and fun to watch. I
would love to see them make it to the big dance.
5. New Orleans Saints - Marty is the man, and just like in baseball the
west is where the fight will be.
6. New York Giants - It always seems like they have the worst luck when it all goes down, but things should be a little different this year.
7. Chicago Bears - Da Bears. Even though I think they got lucky against the Falcons, the Bears are looking to do big things this year. A couple words: Anthony Thomas.
8. Skins - Bad luck up until half-time and things didnt change. Maybe Steve needs to keep the visor on at all times.
9. Indianapolis Colts - Great receiving, plus Edgerrin.
10. Atlanta Falcons - So what if they are 0 - 2? Vick and Dunn will match each other in rushing and Vick will toss it deep when he needs to.
Top 10 College Teams
1. Miami - Straight laughing at everyone so far. The nastiest team out
there.
2. Texas - The longhorns deserve to be here. You never know - A&M could
upset late in the season changing a lot of things.
3. Oklahoma - Blew out UTEP they will repeat the whooping at South Florida
this weekend.
4. Tennessee - Looking great so far but I think Florida might get their
stuff back together in this game.
5. Florida State - Miami, Notre Dame and Florida are what lie ahead. Tough schedule for the 'Noles.
6. Virginia Tech - They are creeping up toward the top, and could contend
for the title.
7. Ohio State - The Buckeyes are off to a great start. They need to plow
through Cincinnati, but they will be hurt by their satisfactory schedule in the long run.
8. Notre Dame - The luck of the Irish is no joke. Tyrone Willingham is the man; I hope he takes them all the way.
9. Florida - They aren't finished yet. Lets see what they can do against
Tennessee.
10. Georgia - D.J. Shockley the frosh quarterback is out for a couple weeks with a broken foot. Northwestern St. is at the top of the Southland Conference and looking to lock the Bulldogs out in the cold. Who knows?
