Jarrett's Top Ten

Welcome to the 2002-2003 football season.  Whim's sports section has compiled a group of our own columnists to pick the top 10 NFL Teams and College Football teams every week.

NFL
Week 10

1. Green Bay Packers  - They went to 7-1 this week by beating the Miami Dolphins.  Brett Favre is not human!

2. Philadelphia Eagles - The Eagles have won 3 straight and are playing excellent.  That fine on Brian Dawkins was horrible.  He wasn't trying to injure Ike Hilliard.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - The Bucs have a lot to be excited about going into the off week.

4. San Francisco 49ers -  The Niners are 6-2 and riding high after that win in Oakland.  I dont know what's going  on with the Raiders.

5. Denver Broncos - The Broncos played last week against the Patriots.  Big game this Monday against Oakland.  If the Raiders don't slip out of their slump, this game will get ugly.

6. New Orleans Saints - Coach Haslett's team was idle this week after that tough lost to the Falcons.  They will get back on track this week.

7. San Diego Chargers - The Jets took the Chargers to the woodshed yesterday.  44-13?  If they weren't 6-2, they wouldn't even be in the top 10.

8. Atlanta Falcons -  Atlanta has to be the best 5-3 team in the league right now.  Michael Vick is coming into his own as a QB and the future looks very bright for this team.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers -  If Atlanta is the best 5-3 team in the league, the steelers are EXTREMELY close.  After starting 0-2, the Steelers are on a 4-game winning streak.

10. Tennessee Titans - The Titans have won 4 straight.  Even though they are only 4-4,  anytime you can win 3 straight games in this league it's pretty impressive.

Top College Teams
Week 12

1. Oklahoma Sooners - Among the unbeaten, Oklahoma is playing the best football right now.

2. Miami Hurricanes - The Canes got off to a slow start again this week. Matter of fact, Ohio State jumped them in this week's BCS poll.  Computer polls suck!

3.    Ohio State Buckeyes - OSU beat a good Minnesota team, 34-3.  They should finish the season undefeated.

4. Washington State Cougars -  I was very surprised that the Cougars beat Arizona State so badly.

5. Iowa Hawkeyes - If the Hawkeyes keep playing this well and a couple of teams lose, they could be in the BCS championship game.  If not for the lost to Iowa State, they would probably be the no. 1 team  in the nation.

6. Texas Longhorns - The Longhorns got a scare from the Cornhuskers this past weekend.  I feel strange saying that considering the Cornhuskers are not ranked for the first time since the Stone Age.

7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish - ND's luck ran out this past weekend against Boston College.  I hope Coach Willingham doesn't get on the hot seat for losing a few games after one season.  They gave Bob Davie a lot more time to build the program and he couldn't do it.  Let Coach Willingham get some recruits in there, then look out!

8. Virginia Tech Hokies - Virginia Tech got beat by Pitt last week, 28-21. I'm not gonna say too much about this one because I'm still upset.

9. Georgia Bulldogs - UGA lost to Florida this past weekend.  I think there were more Gerogia Fans at the Swamp than Florida fans.  I guess the Gator fans dont believe in supporting a team through the hard times.

10. USC Trojans - I hope the Trojans don't overlook Stanford getting ready
