Thundering What?

Virginia Tech came out on top once again over the Marshall Thundering Herd last Thursday, upping their record to 3-0. The win boosted them to number 7 overall in the country.
Last Weeks Recap: Hokies 47, Thundering Nerds 21
Last weeks prediction of a close game, 34 - 21 (Hokies) over Marshall was just a little off. At least Marshall did score finally.
Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs lived up to their "Untouchables" status by
proving VT has the best backfield in the country. Each of them ran for
over 150 yards and combined for 5 TDs. It looks like both of these kids
are going to have 1000 yard seasons; Suggs with 330 and Jones with 280
already. The "Untouchables" definitely gave their offensive line some love for creating holes and blocking to make running all over MU much more fun.
Bryan Randall proved he could lead VT to another win, but hopefully he will be able to set up a nice passing game throughout the rest of the season. They can't rely on the ground game alone once it gets later into the season, so the upcoming weeks will be good practice. The rest of the Hokies, especially the defense, let everyone know whats up also holding the opposition to a goose-egg in the first half. I thought they were going to shut them out until, they got real lazy with a 33 - 0 lead. If they dont want to run all practice long and if they want to beat teams like Texas A&M (on Sept. 21) and especially Miami they better give it all they have right until the end.
Marshall, on the hand, had a fairly disappointing showing coming into the game ranked at number 16. The Herd didn't even come close to scoring until the damage was already done in the 4th quarter. Byron Leftwich still does have a lucky number of 400, passing for over 400 yards in his fifth straight game; he was 31 - 49 with 405 yards at the end of the night. This loss was just what Marshall didnt need, they got booted from the top 25 and with their super weak schedule they wont be contending for any major bowls. Good luck to Byron and his Heisman chances.
Finally, VT has Texas A&M to look forward to but they won't
have the comfort of Lane Stadium for the first time this season; which could be a very big factor. The Hokies should, however, show everyone that they are no joke and take the Aggies to the house. Once Tech hops over the Aggies they should be able to fine tune their game until the big show on December 7th.
