BCS Bowl Predictions
Jarrett Hairston | Staff Writer
For this holiday editon, I decided to put together
predictions for the major bowls. You may disagree with me about some of
the predictions I make, but during this college football season, has anyone
REALLY been able to predict ANYTHING. For example, who would have predicted
Nebraska would have such a dismal season. Parity is very strong in college
football right now amd it will only make the games more exciting. I imagine
some people have lost a lot of money betting on college football games this
season. Rose Bowl (Jan. 1) - Iowa vs. Washington State
Prediction: I believe the Hawkeyes win this game convincingly. Washington
State does not have the defense to stop QB Brad Banks and his numerous
weapons. I really do not think anyone has the defense to stop Iowa, who will
be coming off a very long rest after playing their last game of the season
this past week. Sugar Bowl (Jan. 1) - Oklahoma vs. Georgia
Prediction: The Sooners will come out and try to ram the ball down the
throat of Georgia's defense. They will serve the Bulldogs a steady diet of
Quentin Griffin and this will wear their defense down. Oklahoma wins, but
Georgia stays close for most of the game. Orange Bowl (Jan. 2) - Notre Dame vs. Florida State
Prediction: Hmmm, if Florida State wins out, they could have a rematch of
this earlier contest in which Notre Dame absolutely embarrased FSU. Florida
State will win the ACC, but they will lose again against the stingy defense
of the Fightin' Irish. Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 3) - Miami vs. Ohio State
Prediction: Miami will beat Ohio State worse than they beat Nebraska last
year. Too bad, Iowa lost their first game because the Hurricanes would be
in a dogfight with Iowa. Oh well...Miami wins B-I-G.
