Holiday DVD Wish List
Shaun Corley | Staff Writer
In the previous article, I listed some of the movies that will be gracing theatres this holiday season. Here is a list of some sweet DVDs that will be a sheer joy to find under the tree this season.
Let's start with what is already available. Two of this year's biggest releases, "Spider-man" and "Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones," are ready to purchase at reasonable prices, as are "The Sum of All Fears" and "E.T.:The Extra-Terrestrial." If you're willing to shell out the cash, then you can buy the Tolikien enthusiast on your list the four-disc "Lord of the Rings Extended Edition" set.
Meanwhile, a majority of this year's biggest releases will soon be ready to buy for the DVD enthusiast on your list. "Men in Black II" will be available on November 26th, as will "Ice Age." December 3rd sees the release of "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and Disney's "Lilo and Stich." The "Back to the Future" Trilogy will FINALLY be available on Decmeber 17th, as will "Minority Report." There seems to have been a proliferation of boxed sets lately. Entire seasons of your favorite television shows are now available, including "Sanford and Son," "The Jeffersons," "Law and Order," "South Park," and "Babylon 5." For the Trekkie on your list, both seasons 6 and 7 of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" will be released in December.
This is by no means a complete and exhaustive list of all the DVDs available this holiday. There are already a plethora of catalog titles available, and many more are released each week. Check out DVD Empire to find out what's coming out and when.
