Staffer's Album Picks, Week Four
Brandon Faust | Ritz Section Manager
Steve "Dogg" Glassbrenner: "Make Yourself" by Incubus, "As much as I tried to hate these guys, they're just too damn good. I'd still cut the guitarist's hair if given the chance, and if he wasn't looking!"
Lucy Hillman: "Awake" by Godsmack, "They just keep getting better."
Graham Hall: "The Guest" by Phantom Planet, "This band, which includes the drummer Jason Schwartzman from such movies as "Rushmore" and "Slackers," is a mix of today's rock and the rock and roll of the past. It's a fun album with original songs that should not disappoint any music fan. I feel it's one of the best albums of the year."
Amanda Hoffer: "C'mon, C'mon" by Sheryl Crow, "Good album, but it doesn't really pick up until track 4."
Jeff Davis: "Blue Train" by John Coltrane, "When that vein in the side of your head is about to explode, just pop in this album and the swelling goes down instantly. He and Miles Davis are by far the finest jazz musicians of all time."
Danielle Spangler: "Turbo" by The Pietasters, "They get soulful..."
Doug McKinney: "Volumizer" by 2 Skinnee J's, "I saw them in DC last weekend and they rocked as usual. Concert review coming next weekend!"
Nikki "Nicci" Ridgeway: Doesn't have any time to come with an album pick because she's too busy editting late articles.

wow... this week i really dragged my feet. i didn't even turn in a pick!
but i have two: first, 'apossibility' by far-less, they're local, talented and chock full of rock. please check these guys out sometime, http://www.far-less.com
also, 'suicide notes and butterfly kisses' by atreyu. they're on victory records by way of tribunal in north carolina and their record is one of the most lyrically competent hardcore disks i've ever heard, not to mention an awesome group of musicians and a scorching guest appearance by efram schultz from epitaph record's death by stereo
