You Can Leave RU Express at Home When Doing the Laundry

When I lived in Floyd Hall a few years ago I did my laundry almost weekly. No,
I didn't get dirtier then and I didn't stink more then. I was able to have
cleaner clothes more frequently. Do you know why? I had more money in my RU
Express account than in quarters on my dresser. Now, almost everywhere the
student goes, the quarters are still the dominant payment method. What gives?
This was handy in the hotter months when I did in fact perspire more. I never
planned my wardrobe; I just wore my favorite shirts and shorts. With all the
biking I was into then the clothes got soiled easily. I could pile all my
clothes up, throw in some detergent, throw in the clothes, whites and darks of
course, swipe my RUX card and it was all paid for. My girlfriend calls it fake
money. It isn't really fake but you never see it so it might as well be. I
never had any quarters then and I rarely have them now.
Hey Residential Life, why did/does Floyd Hall have those machines and barely
anyone else does? Fairfax Apartments don't have them. Norwood didn't have
them. I know of students who live in other halls and the card-swiping option
isn't in any of their halls either. What happened?
I'm interested in how much this would cost. I can understand why this wouldn't
happen right now with the mess Slick Jimmy G left behind and now Warner has to
clean up after it. Perhaps there would be some room after the Vice Presidents
have come up with an action plan to deal with the budget reductions?
I think it would be a lot more efficient for students. I'm not alone in my
quarterlessness. I have to walk to the post office to make change for a bill.
I never have any cash either, so I have to get a $20 from the ATM, break it at
the bookstore, then run one or more of the bills through the change machine.
All this time could have been spent studying.
Not to blow things out of proportion but there's a lot better things we could
be doing with that time. Like sleeping. Or putting away laundry that's been
washed and dried quicker than before because we didn't have to go on twenty-
minute treks to get change. Just a suggestion for when you get things
straightened out, RU.
