We Remember Chuck Jones
Steve Glassbrenner | Toon Section Manager

3/01/02

Last Friday the cartoon world lost one of it's oldest, most respected and revered members. At the age of 89 Chuck Jones found peace and passed away. Even if you're not familiar with the name, you've seen his work. Jones was responsible for creating such cartoon greats as Bugs Bunny, Pepe Le Pew, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Porky Pig, and the Road Runner. I can't count the numbers of hours I've spent and will spend watching and rewatching Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies cartoons. Even up to the point of his death, Jones was still creating cartoons, his most recent works were weekly online Flash cartoons on the Warner Brothers website.

The true artists never retire, they just get replanted.

Thanks Chuck.

Jones also did Tom and Jerry. I loved T&J as much as Looney Tunes. They were 2 of my favorite cartoons growing up.

Looney Toons were the best. Bugs Bunny is one funny dude.
