A Simple Technology, and Such a Meaning!
Kevin Martin | Tech Section Manager

This week's edition of the Tech Section has been fun. Quite fun actually. On Sunday night I handed out requests for articles (the articles you read above), to be ready for this week's publication, an entire week faster then what we normaly request. My anticipation was high, the submissions slow, but in the end, we pulled off a great week of useful information about breasts and their associated technologies. Personaly, as a guy, I remain astounded at what new gizmo's women wear on their chests. It seems every year there is an improvement on the original "wonderbra" that has my sister and other less lucky ladies swooning.

Before I close out this week's section, I wanted to bring at least a mention of some other technology that directly affects women every day. That is the technology of Mamography. Mamograms are essential to women of certain ages (every 1-2 years over 40), but should be seriously considered for all women. Though your needs for one vary depending on your family history, endowment, and well advised opinion, you should every year ask your doctor what is new in the world of Mamography and Breast Cancer. Technology such as mamograms, biopsy's, lumpectomy's, and mastectomy's are not anywhere near the front line of detecting abnormal growths. That front line lies in your monthy dedication and self examination. If you do not know what I'm talking about, or how to do it, PLEASE see the health center's womens health specialist. There they can train you the proper ways for this valuable step. On a personal note I have an aunt who was well below the 40yr line who discovered something abnormal one month. Thank goodness she examed monthly and well, and saw her doctor immediately. Now over three years later my aunt is a Breast Cancer Survivor, and remains around to raise her two son's 16 and 13.

It wasn't too long ago that I found a lovely glass jar candle at my parent's house, with a floral pattern sparkled with pink ribbons. Some of you might recognize this as the Avon Breast Cancer Awareness Candle. I rarely put in plugs for non-electronic technologies, but this technology needs plugged. Available from avon.com, or from your local Avon dealer, these candles burn long, smell great, and even better the profits made from the candles go to Breast Cancer research. We're almost there, we almost have Breast Cancer beat...so let's all have better smelling dwellings in our support of Breast Cancer Research.
