A beautifully done story about a mentally handicapped father played by Sean Penn. Sean Penn does an amazing job portraying the characteristics of a grown man with the mental capability of a 7-year-old. His daughter, Lucy Diamond, named after the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," is one of the cutest children I have ever seen.

Michelle Pfeiffer plays an amazing role in this movie as well. She plays the heartless lawyer who talks her way into representing Sam and Lucy pro-bono. The relationship that she gains by befriending Sam changes her life completely, for the better.

This movie was directed and produced in such a way that it opens your eyes to what is really going on in the world. It lets you know how other people might be different but everyone is human, and everyone has a heart that is able to be broken.
