Staffer's Most Favorite Albums
The Whim Staff
3/29/02
Happy April, everyone! After a couple of weeks off, we're back with a monumental list. I've asked the staffers to pick their favorite album of
all time!
Jeff "fluffy little kitten" Davis: Quiet Riot's Greatest Hits;
"METAL HEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTH!"
Brandon "b-to-the" Faust: "Step By Step," by New Kids on the Block; "They are so awesome. Their lyrics give me the chills and make me want to be like them when I grow up."
Katie "Toon princess" Tandler: Well, she simply couldn't select a favorite out of her vast collection of albums.
Daine "the little rain cloud" Vineyard: "Mary Poppins sings your
favorite Disney Hits"; "What can I possibly say? Mary Poppins will go down as the most innovative vocalist of our era."
Dave "the Whim terrorist" Betancourt: "To the Extreme" by Vanilla Ice; "He definitely keeps it real. He's obviously from the streets."
Shaun "Rico" Corley: "Drops of Jupiter" by Train; "DUDE! DUDE! You don't understand! These generic-brand Counting Crows bands rock! DUDE! DUDE!"
Amanda "Ventless this week" Hoffer: "The Bridge" by Ace of Base; "It's so good, I listen to it everyday! Catchy tunes, great stuff!"
Steve "wise guy" Glassbrenner: "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" by MC Hammer;
"After all of these years, this particular album still has it 'goin' on!'"
Bryan "WV's best friend" McBournie: "Best of the Village People (1979)" by The Village People; Songs like "In the Navy," "YMCA," and
most of all "Macho Man" speak to my soul. The deep issues addressed in
these songs really speak to me. I heard a rumor that they might be gay,
but I doubt it's true."
Jenn "Suave" Peterson: "Justus" by The Monkees; "This album proves to me that even 30 years later, The Monkees still write fantastic music, all on their own."
Shana "the whirling dervish" Lockett: "History of Rock" by Kid Rock; "The song 'Cowboy' still brings a tear to my eye. How can one man be so amazing poetic?"
Doug "steel driving man" McKinney: "Barney's Great Adventure" the soundtrack (blisterpacked special edition); "Barney might be a big purple dinosaur, but the man can sing. And the songs are so touching!"
Rachel "da boss" Thomason: "The Greatest of the Best of the Greatest Hits" by Barbara Streisand and "It Wasn't Me" by Milli Vanilli; "I go to sleep with these albums playing on my stereo. I always have, and I probably always will."
Stephanie "the enforcer" King: "Another Night" by Real McCoy; "One of the early 90's most influential dance acts. This album got me through high school!"
Zac "the man behind the curtain" Martin: "Rock n Roll Gangster" by Fieldy's Dreams; "It was hard for me to choose between this and "Private Radio" by Billy Bob Thornton, but this just takes it. Everyone knows Fieldy from his time in Korn, but the things he does with rap are astounding."
