This week's recipe comes from Graphics Queen Jenn Peterson. Enjoy!

Spaghetti Sauce with Italian Sausage

1 package Italian Sausage links
2 small cans tomato paste
1 large can whole peeled tomatoes
1 can mushrooms
1 onion
1 green pepper
1 packet spaghetti seasoning
oregano
garlic powder
basil

This recipe is made to your own taste, so you don't have to follow this exactly.

Cut and peel the casings away from about 3 or 4 of the sausages.  Grind and fry the sausage in a pan over medium to high heat.  When almost done, drain any grease and add chopped onion and green pepper.  Cook till onion and green pepper are tender.  Crush the whole tomatoes in your hands (I just do this part for fun, you can get diced tomatoes instead) and add with the tomato liquid and 1 can of tomato paste.  Add drained mushrooms and spaghetti seasoning.  Stir and let simmer a little.  Then to kick it up a few notches taste and add oregano, garlic powder, basil, and any other spices to your liking.  Remember that a little can go a long way.

If you like your sauce thicker add the second can of tomato paste, if you want it thinner add a little water.  Let simmer for a little while stirring occasionally.  When you're happy with the results serve over your favorite pasta with parmasan cheese.  Bon Appetite!
