  Motorola Makes them Durable
Kevin Martin | Staff Writer

It wasn't too long ago that I was busy extolling the virtues of the Motorola 3000 series StarTac cellular telephones. Avid Whim tech fans will recall that the particular phone I reviewed at that time had over 12,000 actual use minutes, and had been left turned on almost 24/7 for the entire 14 months of it's life. One reader asked "exactly how often did you turn the phone off?"

Submitted For Your Approval - And the Winner is...

Here they are, after much deliberation and painstaking collection of votes: the top three sites for this semester's edition of Submitted For Your Approval.
And the top site is...

Burn Fast, Even on a Mac!
Kevin Martin | Staff Writer

Are you an Apple Imac or G4 user lacking a fast cd burner, or are you a proud owner of a recently built PC that includes 1394 (firewire/Ilink), but have nothing to use on your 1394 port? Are you the computer geek with a fast laptop, and a slow-assed cd-writer? I was very disappointed to learn that the fastest burner available with my Dell at the time was an 8/4/4, but I did not despair. The busy media fanatics at Sony, in their wisdom, have taken on the challenge.

Grant's Top Twenty Titillating Tech Toys for the Troubled Techie
Grant Simmons | Whim Alumni

It's getting to be that time of year again and as for myself, I'm working in retail. Anyway, things get kind of hectic, but you know how that goes if you've ever had a job selling anything. Basically I'll be slurping nicotine through a straw if I snap at another customer. Here are my top picks for Christmas 2001. Please watch for red and green colored vomit in aisle four.

Great Technology Christmas Gifts for Under $30
Kevin Martin | Staff Writer

If you are anything like most of the people I know, you most likely have some technology geek on your holiday gift list, who seems to have everything. Here at Whim's we will try to catch you up on your Christmas shopping, without blowing your budget into next year.
