Imagine you wake up one morning to find your door unlocked and daughter missing. This is what happens in "Don't Say A Word" starring Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy.
Doctor Nathan Conrad (Douglas) is an adolescent psychiatrist whos patient, Elizabeth (Murphy), knows a six-digit number. At first Conrad does not know about this number, but that Elizabeth knows something that other people want to know. She tells Conrad she knows what he wants from her and that she is not telling. Conrad does not know what she is referring to, at first.
Then comes the moment when Conrad's daughter is kidnapped. It turns out that the kidnappers want something from Conrad, the six-digit number. They won't tell him the significance of the number, just that they need it. They give him a 5pm deadline to get Elizabeth to tell him the number or else he never sees his daughter again.
So now Conrad has to figure out what this number is for and how to get it out of Elizabeth. Elizabeth knows who wants the number and why they want it. That's why she won't tell.
Near the end of the movie we discover why the number is so significant. It has something to do with Elizabeth's father who died when she was 8 years old. Conrad coaxes the story out of Elizabeth and discovers what the number is and why it's important.
This movie was pretty good. Very suspenseful and did not drag much. There are a few interesting plot twists also. Douglas' character is pretty daring and gutsy when it comes to handling the kidnappers. Overall, I think it is worth the price of admission. You don't need to wait for video for this one. If you like suspense this is one to see.
