Tips For Surviving Your Freshmen Year

  • Make a point to meet with all your professors. They will remember you at grade time.
  • Never walk alone at night.
  • Never walk drunk at night.
  • Use your RU express. (You can use it at many local merchants)
  • Horde your food dollars. They go fast!
  • Don't buy your books pre-packaged. (You don't always need all of them).
  • Don't drink on Sundays.
  • Don't drink more than you study. Drinking is expensive and so is a wasted education.
  • Watch your drinks at social events.
  • Don't make a habit of sleeping during the day.
  • Use your resources. There are many organizations here to help.
  • Get involved around campus.
  • Despite what you think, you are not the beer pong champion.
  • Don't leave your clothes in the dryer. They may end up on the floor or missing.
  • Make friends with your RA. They may come in handy.
  • Keep your syllabus. You won't get another one and the professer may not remind you of due dates.
  • Be your own academic advisor.
  • Make the most out of your education.
  • Make friends with people with cars.
  • You are an adult now…act like it.
  • Be careful at crosswalks. Not everyone is going to stop.
  • Stop for people at crosswalks.
  • Joe's Diner and Waffle House in Dublin are open all night.
  • Don't wear good shoes at frat parties. They will be destroyed.

Don't push yourself too hard. Take a fun/easy elective once in a while. It'll make some of your semesters better if you're enjoying some of the assignments.
