What's Cookin' at Pipers?
Graphic By: Jenn Peterson

Those long waits at Piper's Steakhouse are now a thing of the past. Piper's Steakhouse is now just Piper's, and things have improved.

The menu is new as well as the dishes. New items include grilled salmon, stuffed portabella mushrooms, chicken marsala, and prime rib, created by Radford Dining Service's Chef Ben and his assistants. In an attempt to improve presentation, tableclothes have also been added.

These luxuries came at a price however. For paying customers the price has increased from $8 to $10 dollars . The the project as a hole went way over budget. Still "the improvements are well worth it" says one sophomore student. I suggest you go there and find out for yourself.

The change at pipers is a nice touch to Radford's campus. The atmosphere is much nicer and the food is better. The problems that I have found come in the quantity of the food. The steak is the only really substancial item to order. The grilled salmon is quite small and did not fill me up. The chicken is better but the portions are small. Something that is missed is the shrimp, it was disappointing to myself and others to see that removed from the menu. Overall, the steak really pulls through compared to the old Pipers. I like the change and only wish the portions were bigger.
