RU Landscaping Enough?
Graphic By: Rachel Thomason

Every year we see the same thing. The campus is mad with movement in the weeks before graduation. This movement is not from excited students about to graduate however. It is from the massive amounts of shrubbery, bushes, grass, and other greenery that are being uprooted, moved, planted and replanted. Trees are moved clear across campus in preparation for the wave of deep-pocketed parents due to arrive at RU.

I remember quite clearly being awakened at 6:00am during exam week my freshman year. The grounds crew were mowing, raking and seeding rather loudly under my bedroom window. Little did they know that in less than two hours I had a final to take!

I have never seen such a spectacle put on the by the Facilities Management Department. Look around this week and you will see what I mean. RU does have a beautiful campus. I only wish campus looked as beautiful all year long.

I can not name the mornings I was awoke by either a lawn mower, leaf blower, or a edger banging against the concrete below my window in Peery Hall. I know they do extra work for graduation, but the year I lived in Peery I know that I was woke up every morning before 8am. Cant they at least wait until after 8. I am so glad I dont live on campus anymore and i can just enjoy the beautiful campus and not have to hear about it every morning!!!!

Oh that's nothing....4 years ago...when I was still there...they up rooted all the trees lining the sidewalk heading from Pocy to the fountain...and "re-arranged them" In some cases they replanted the same tree only 5 inches from it's original spot!!! If you don't believe me ask Chris (Hollomon) he was there.

Did anyone see that fire outside Reed Hall a few weeks ago? Someone threw their still lighted cig into a fresh mulch pile. The damn thing ignited and the front bush was vaporized! Now that was funny.
