Ages ago, when the Super Nintendo was still the model of gaming superiority, a game was designed and coded that far exceeded the depth, replayability, and sheer size of any preceding RPG. This game, now a milestone and permanent favorite, is Chrono Trigger.
The game begins with your character, whose default name is "Chrono", waking up for the millenium fair. His mother gives him some spending money, and sends him on his way to have fun. You explore the fair, and meet your friend Lucca, who accidentally throws herself back into time. During the next few time-jumps, you learn all about how time travel works, and even get a handy ship that can move through time and space. When you finally return to your own time, everything has changed. All your actions in the past have altered your present.
It gets worse, when, while traveling to the future, you find that an evil of the past has grown insanely powerful, and is bout to destroy the planet. Here you have two choices. You can either go back in time to before you messed with history and reset everything, or you can dash off to the future and defeat the massive evil before it destroys the planet. Did I mention that this game has 12 confirmed endings, and a rumored "programmer only" ending?
If you still own your old SNES, go buy this cartridge and play play play! If not, I highly recommend finding an emulator, ZSNES is a good one, and downloading the ROM image for Chrono Trigger.
