Weight room's new home pleases residents

Muse Hall residents don't seem to mind the added attraction in their hall. Due to the building renovation of Peters Hall, the weight room that used to be in the basement of Peters is now on the first floor of Muse.

"Having the new weight room here just makes it more convenient to use," Muse resident James Ingerski said.

The move took place during winter break when Peters was cleared for the 18-month face lift project. The dance department went to Trinkle Hall, the ROTC program operates out of 712 Clement St., and the office of physical education can now be found on the ground floor of Davis Hall.

University Facilities Coordinator Martin Huckabee is not certain if any of these changes will be permanent, but if the college has enough money to equip the new weight room in Peters, it will also leave the weight room at Muse.

Huckabee also said he has noticed a big change in student usage with the relocation. "We have many more females that come here than we had in Peters Hall," he said.

Peters Hall aerobics classes are being held in the Muse banquet room Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m. and Fridays at 3:30. The only change is that participants are now required to bring a towel to prevent body sweat from seeping into the fresh carpet.

The renovation of Peters Hall should be completed by fall 2002.
