Need Something to do?
See the Cotton Kings!

Graphic By: Jenn Peterson

If you haven’t heard of them by now, listen up. There is a local band called the Cotton Kings who you should try to catch sometime. They are a group of four composed by Aaron Cox (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), PJ McDonnell (Bass, backing vocals), Ken Osborne (Lead Guitar, vocals) and Whim’s own Zac Martin (Drums).

Local bands are a great way for college students to listen to live music. They are usually much cheaper than seeing a larger, signed band, and if they make it big you can someday say, ""I knew/saw them when"" Local bands also tend to have large followings and dedicated fans. I saw the Cotton Kings play with Down Time, another local band, at Champs last weekend and there were quiet a few followers and people who sang along with both bands and really got into the music.

You can check out the Cotton Kings on mp3.com MP3.com and sample some of their songs and order one of their albums if you really like their stuff. You can also check out the Cotton Kings website to learn more about the band. The Cotton Kings will be playing at the Radford Macados Thursday, February 22, at 9pm and at Bailey’s in Blacksburg Friday, March 2. Check them out.

The Cotton King's PJ McDonnell is also a Whim alumnist, having served as an active writer during the 1999 season. The Cotton King's poster and logo shown on this page were designed by Whim Alumnist and founding member, Michael Sos.
