The holiday season is once again upon us, and that means many movies which yearn to become huge box office hits attempting to gross the highest amount of money. The fall/holiday season is in full swing now, and the films being released are the studios' entries into the contest not only for box office returns, but respectability. The movies released this season are the producers' and directors' best bets to receive press when Oscar nominations are announced. The end of the year is expected to bring movies galore, and, since this holiday movie season is anticipated to be a promising one, a good tip to avoid the holiday hustle and bustle is going to a movie at your local theater.

Bounce, a romantic drama starring Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, is about a womanizing ad exec who falls in love with Paltrow's character after they meet under extenuating circumstances. Since these two actors have shared real life chemistry in the past, it could possibly yield the ideal romance that could make or break the storyline. Bounce promises to be an excellent date movie, one that is sure to please you and your significant other. The release date for this film was November 17.

If you're looking to take the family to the movies this holiday season, you might want to check out Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas in theaters November 17. Many people are familiar with the movie's plot: The Grinch, who has forever needed an attitude adjustment, tries to keep Christmas, as well as the cheer that accompanies it, from the people of Whoville, only to realize the Yuletide spirit goes much deeper than toys and tinsel. Starring Jim Carrey, Molly Shannon (Of Saturday Night Live fame), and Christine Baranski, The Grinch's creators had a tough time turning this Seussian classic into a feature-length film. The creators wanted the film to not only explore how the Grinch stole Christmas, but also the reasoning behind it. This PG film serves as the winter movie season's best example of the importance of appreciating the holiday season.

The movie season just wouldn't be complete without an intense drama to top off the list. Unbreakable, starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, is about a sole train crash survivor(Willis), and the man (Jackson) who accompanies him on his journey to find out the reason behind the mysterious crash. From the creator of the Sixth Sense, Unbreakable is considered to be the supernatural thriller of the holiday season, and is due out on November 22.
