The Return Of Exit 109![]() After several setbacks, Exit 109, Radford's Literary and Art magazine, had its Fall 2000 premiere on November 30th at 7 pm. Everyone on the Exit 109 staff was glad to be finally getting the magazine out to the campus and to the community. The turn-out for the premiere was moderate. It was an open forum for anyone to read or display art whether they submitted to the magazine or not. The premiere opened up with English professor Chelsea Adams, who introduced some new poems of hers and read from her recently published poetry book "Looking for a Landing." Ms. Adams' reading was definitely a good way to start out the premiere. If you haven't had a chance to read some of her work, her poetry is available in the campus bookstore. It is definitely worth a look. Courtney Ingham, Exit 109's editor, continued the trend of wonderful poetry with some of her own. She is definitely one of those writers you want to keep in touch with. Her work keeps getting better and better. One of the highlights of the premiere, as always, was Exit 109 and Whim staffer Jeff Davis. There's never a dull moment with Jeff. He's always willing to keep the audience on their toes, and he did not fail this time around. Every one of his poems were wonderful and profound. Other members of the Exit 109 staff that read and astounded were Shaun Corley, Jenny Brown, Jessica Hensley, and, especially, Ellisa Frantz. She ended the premiere reading with her superb poetry. Exit 109 will miss you, Ellisa. Refreshments were available after the reading was over, giving everyone a chance to talk and say congratulations to the writers and artists in the magazine. People admired the art of Cindy Sabean and Cori Adams. The premiere turned out to be a really great affair. Exit 109's Fall 2000 issue is available in bins throughout campus. It is also available in Heth 211. If you are interested in submitting to Exit 109, please stop by Exit 109's office in Heth 211. |
