Again, it's all your fault. I've got a gripe about the way you all think. Some of you all hate this school. So I'll say to you the same thing I told Abdul-Rauf, if you don't like it, get out. Why the hell did you come to this school if you didn't like it?
I'm so tired of seeing VT shirts everywhere. Maybe you mom, dad, brother, sister, boy/girlfriend went to VT. I can understand, I like Duke because most of my family went there, but when Radford played them last year I was on Radford's side.
I don't see why some of you have more school spirt for them than your own school. When it came time to choose a college, I figured out what I wanted to do, looked up the schools that had it, then visited most of them because I had to know where I was going to live for the next four years. I don't know how you choose paths in life as important as college without asking yourself "Can I live here for four to six years of my life?" If your answer was NO, then why did you go here?
I'd sit here and complain about school spirit but my real concern is with school respect. I don't expect you to love every minute. That would be impossible, I don't even like every minute. I even complain about the food a lot. But you know, when I don't like the food, I get some cereal or spaghetti...or I just go somewhere else. At least I've got a choice. You have a choice too, and I say, if you don't like it get the funk out.

This place sucks my ass. Our instructors, with the exception of a select few, are run-of-the-mill nobodies in their fields of 'expertise'. And I'm not sure if those people at Quest blew a bunch of smoke up your ass about RU being a 'friendly' place where you were not just a name, but lemme tell you that even though it seems that way, it isn't always so. I was one of those people at quest telling you all those lies about RU. And it hurt me when I found out that you're only their friend when it's convenient for them. Don't expect any favors from a professor, even though you helped them do a research project for which they would receive all the credit. Just be careful, and be cautious. College is no refuge from the nest of vipers that constitutes our world.

I think the new motto will do much for the school...but little for the spirit. "Investing in lifetimes" is a sexy grabber...but...is that going to pile in the crowds at games?

What do y'all think about the new motto? Will it improve school spirit?

Easier said than done. It takes some people a long time to realize how rotten it is at RU. Maybe your first expeience of true disgust is as a Junior. What are you going to do- lose a year of school- and transfer. Personally, I love all the VT t-shirts and crap I see around campus. I bet you some big cash that the people who wear them arn't really excited about Tech's superior academics. They are excited about Tech sports. I say, Great! This just shows me where those people's priorities lay. I like being able to pick out the really shallow people. Sometimes they write articles bemoaning what other people wear; sometimes they just wear billboards for other schools sports. Either way...
