The Walker Technology Center is Radford's new power house of computer labs
designed for your convenience. The Center offers brand new machines in
five labs and a classroom with an overhead projector.
The labs offer a lot of software and hardware that people are unaware of.
CD burners, color scanners, color printers, and Zip drives are among the
improvements. They have also decided to hold free workshops that will
cover topics such as "Adobe Photoshop" and "Fundamentals on the Mac".
The labs consist of four PC rooms and an Apple lab with new GA systems.
The new labs are a major improvement over labs that used to be located in
Miffed. "Some students were upset when we took the labs out of Moffett
because they were moving in to that dorm because there was a lab there,"
said Jason Bayers, supervisor of the center. "These are much better then
the old ones, plus they're open longer...and the help desk is downstairs
so they can fix problems much faster."
Ed Oakes is the Assistant Director of Client Services and is currently
pushing to get the labs open 24hrs.
Below is a detailed description of each lab.
