"Well, what comment can I give? We're funnier than most anything you'll ever read at work...." explained Jack Szwergold, Webmaster of The Onion Inc. - America's Finest News Source, when I asked him if he had any comments to offer regarding The Onion.
With 400,000 online visitors and 400,000 print readers, 'The Onion' is the most popular humor publication in America. Each issue provides readers with the cutting-edge satire of life in today's world. It all began in 1988 in Madison, Wisconsin as a college humor magazine. The Onion is now distributed internationally.
Compared to similar humor publications like The National Lampoon and Spy, The Onion features headlines that have corporate America laughing out loud. Titles like "Many Rappers May Suffer From Unrealistically High Self-Images" and "ACLU Defends Nazis' Right To Burn Down ACLU Headquarters" are outrageous, yet laughable, social commentary.
The site is updated weekly with fresh and undeniably twisted articles. They also keep a well-organized Archive section that allows readers to go back and read what they may have missed. Here is a typical article straight from the archives of this wacky newspaper.
"RC COLA CELEBRATES 10th PURCHASE."
ALBANY, NY--Employees at Royal Crown Cola are jubilant in the wake of the 10th product sale in the company's 68-year history. The milestone sale took place Monday afternoon, when Ames, IA, resident Stephen Dutchins, 81, purchased a two-liter bottle of the wildly unpopular cola at a local Food Lion grocery store. "They put the Coke and Pepsi on the top shelf, and I couldn't reach them," Dutchins told reporters. "I decided my thirst was significant enough to justify buying an unknown brand."
With that said, here are some things readers had to say about "The Onion."
"Heir apparent to The National Lampoon and Spy" Entertainment Weekly.
"...satire at its finest..." Wired
"...surprising and sublime..." The New Yorker

The Onion is, next to Whim, the most entertaining site on the web. There is a lot to be said for a staff that can come up with witty, intelligent humor like that. I highly recommend the Onion.
